Bob Duncan qualifies for Georgia House Seat 179
St. Simons Island, GA, March 9, 2022_____Bob Duncan, a republican from St. Simons Island,
qualified Monday to run for Georgia House Seat 179 which has been held by Rep. Don Hogan since 2017. Hogan announced in November he would not seek re-election.
“As your next state representative, I will stand up for families and the Georgia values we cherish dearly,” commented Duncan. “Our state and country are facing difficult challenges these days. This is a time when we need leaders who will remain strong and resilient.
“Hardworking folks in our district can count on me to support legislation that will improve our quality of life and safeguard our families. I will use my four decades of business experience and common-sense leadership to ensure a bright and prosperous future for Glynn County,” he added. Duncan’s family moved to Brunswick in 1960 when his father was assigned to the local post of the Georgia State Patrol. He attended Glynn County public schools and graduated from Brunswick High School before earning an electrical engineering degree from Southern Tech, a division of Georgia Tech in Marietta.
Duncan has worked in consulting, construction and senior management for public and investor-owned utilities, both domestic and international, during much of his career. He has been involved in major construction projects, customer operations, governmental affairs and utility rights of way management. Plus, the design of industrial utility systems for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities. He has also led and overseen utility resources for disaster response and service restoration in multiple states and utilities following ice storms, tornadoes and hurricanes – working closely with local and
regional governmental officials. In 2018, he was elected to serve on the Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water and Sewer Commission. Duncan is vice chair of the commission and chair of the finance committee. He and his wife, Bonnie, make their home on St. Simons Island.
