Bob Duncan Will Campaign For Georgia House Seat 179

St. Simons Island, GA, Nov. 11, 2021– Glynn County businessman Bob Duncan has announced his candidacy for the Georgia House of Representatives in the 2022 election. Duncan, a republican from St. Simons Island, will seek House Seat 179 which has been held by Rep. Don Hogan since 2017.

Earlier this week, Hogan said he would not seek re-election and endorsed Duncan as his successor. “I have known Bob Duncan for many years and I feel confident that he will do an exceptional job as our next state representative,” said Hogan. “His experience, integrity and common sense will give the citizens of Glynn County a strong voice in Atlanta. Bob grew up in Brunswick and has deep roots in our community. He will be a difference maker.”

In making his announcement, Duncan thanked Rep. Hogan for his outstanding leadership and service to the citizens of Glynn County and the State of Georgia.

“Don is one of the most highly-respected leaders in our General Assembly. His accomplishments and the relationships he has built with legislators across the state have greatly benefited Georgians and Glynn Countians in particular. I appreciate Don’s friendship and support. I will look to him for advice as I work to protect Georgia families and the values that are important to all of us.” 

Duncan’s family moved to Brunswick in 1960 when his father was assigned to the local post of the Georgia State Patrol. He attended Glynn County public schools and graduated from Brunswick High School before earning an electrical engineering degree from Southern Tech, a division of Georgia Tech in Marietta.

Duncan has worked in consulting, construction and senior management for public and investor-owned utilities, both domestic and international, during much of his career. He has been involved in major construction projects, customer operations, governmental affairs and utility rights of way management. Plus, the design of industrial utility systems for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities.

He has also led and overseen utility resources for disaster response and service restoration in multiple states and utilities following ice storms, tornadoes and hurricanes – working closely with local and regional governmental officials.

Duncan is currently a general partner in Duncan Builders LLP, a local company involved in design and construction of residential and light commercial projects.

In 2018, he was elected to serve on the Brunswick-Glynn Joint Water and Sewer Commission. Duncan is vice chair of the commission and chair of the finance committee. He and his wife, Bonnie, make their home on St. Simons Island.
